The user application code is directly run using the M18QWG module and developed using the OpenEmbedded software framework for Linux applications. The Software Development Kit (SDK) dedicated to the M18QWG module provides the necessary API calls to access hardware peripherals and system resources. The application code developed through the SDK is loaded into the M18QWG module through the USB interface on the development board, eliminating the need for external proprietary JTAG cables.

Avenet's global LTE IoT entry-level kit enables the design of cellular connected IoT edge devices that can operate in multiple countries\/regions. This kit is developed by AT& T IoT services provide support, providing a complete development environment for sensor to cloud applications and services. In order to accelerate the transition from prototype design to production, small-sized and fully certified development circuit boards included in the kit can also be purchased in bulk to accelerate IoT deployment and reduce risks.

The entry-level kit adopts a small-sized (79.5mm x 30mm) development circuit board built around the global LTE Class 4 modem module of Wistron NeWeb Company (WNC) M18QWG. The M18QWG module provides cellular modem functionality and user application code support, thus eliminating the need for an external host processor. Rich embedded system peripherals that can be controlled through user application code can be easily accessed through a 60 pin expansion connector or 2x6 peripheral module head end. This makes it possible to easily customize the system using specific application sensors and I\/O interfaces by adding user created or ready-made plugins. The development circuit board also includes ambient light sensors, temperature sensors, and 3-axis accelerometers for demonstration examples that are ready to use out of the box.
